The ideal time to install a home network is while your home is being built. It is so much easier to run all the cabling throughout your home before the walls are finished. This web page will describe the network that I installed in my new home as it was being built with a focus on the 'How To' aspect.

You're likely to want something different for your home so I'll focus more on the 'How To' element so that you can learn enough to adapt this installation to suit your own wants and needs.  And the information here can be useful if your doing this kind of thing in an existing home.

The concept of structured wiring, which is the basis of my home network, will be presented. In addition I will describe the steps I took to plan and install this network in my own home. I will get into the details that will be helpful to you if you want to do this in your own home.

This website will be updated on an ongoing basis but realize that in some very limited areas this material won't reflect some of the evolutionary changes that are taking place. The date of the last update was  06/05/2008 .
